Here’s A Quick Way To Sell Your House For $5,000 More
When it is time to sell your house the easiest and most cost effective way to prepare your house is to paint the interior. A recent study shows 65% of realtors recommend giving your homes interior and fresh coat of paint to make the house more appealing increasing your home’s value at an average of $5000. Normal wear and tear in your home is normal but when selling your house you want to eliminate all the dings, dents, and scratches so that when you are ready to show your home it looks perfect.
Neutrals and Naturals
When painting your a house we highly recommend using a color that is more appealing to a wider audience. This means using bolder colors like dark reds, dark greens, bright yellows, etc should be replaced with softer, warmer colors creating a more inviting space. Neutrals are always a safe bet so that when your buyer walks into the house they can imagine their furniture in the house. Natural colors like soft blues and warm beiges blend well with most colors as well and create more of a "feeling" in the house. Soft blues are relaxing and are good for kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Warm beiges and soft taupe’s are good for living rooms and common rooms creating an inviting feeling. The direction your light comes from in your house is something to consider as well. North facing homes should have cooler undertones while south facing homes should have warmer undertones
What About Touch Ups?
If you do not want to paint your entire house and just want to do touch ups through out the house it is something that is possible to do however there is a condition. If you have remaining paint from your previous paint job and it has not gotten to old or your paint has not started to fade we can use that paint to do touch ups that perfectly match. However if you do not have that paint it is going to be harder. Color matches are never exact so you need to know the exact color code and sheen of the paint used but that STILL may not be an exact match. You can use the exact same brand of paint and STILL may not be an exact match because each paint store's color is calibrated differently ever so slightly. Even after having the same color code, the same sheen, the same brand of paint, from the same store it is possible that your paint on your walls has faded over time and the touch ups will still be noticeable. So is it possible to do touch ups? Yes, but we can not always guarantee an exact color match and it may make sense to paint the entire wall instead.
Other things to consider
Your goal when selling your home more than anything is to create a blank canvas so think about the things about your house that perhaps you love but others may not. Style-specific colors or overly trendy designs may not speak to others the way they speak to you. One of the things we love about painting your home's interior is how clean and fresh everything feels when we are done. If you are looking to sell your home or are wanting to make it feel brand new again choose a local family owned painting company who takes pride in their work the way you take pride in your home!
